I Won't Act If My Character Suffers

Near-death extra Lin Yan relies on a system to extend his life, taking on critically ill roles for free. His realistic acting leads to a mistaken death report that alerts the police. After being noticed by the director for additional scenes, he gains the favor of major director Feng Kai, securing a pivotal role and repeatedly thwarting the schemes of his enemy, Wang Ming. Conquering the crew with his system skills and superb acting, Lin Yan falls in love with An Yaoyao, who helped him. Wang Ming's repeated attempts on his life end with him being sent to prison. Lin Yan wins Best Actor at the Golden Globe Awards for his self-written and starred film 'The Prisoner' and successfully proposes to An Yaoyao in public. Just as he plans a stable life, the system issues a new mission: win an Oscar within three years or face death. Lin Yan chooses to face the challenge head-on.
