The Family Dog

In the 1990s, Chen Village faces a disaster and food shortage. Chen Jianjun goes into the mountains to forage, gets attacked by a rabid wild boar, and is saved by a mother dog. The injured mother dog entrusts her puppy to Chen Jianjun. After Chen Jianjun brings the puppy home, Da Huang and Ya Ya grow up together. When Ya Ya picks lingzhi mushrooms in the mountains and is attacked by a wolf, Da Huang saves her. However, Chen Jianjun's mother Wang Guiying falsely accuses Da Huang, causing Chen Jianjun to lose trust in the dog. Sister-in-law Xu Xiulan gives up the ancestral home to save Da Huang's life. Wang Guiying accidentally kills Chen Jianjun, steals all his valuables, and flees at night, only to meet her demise at the wolf's mouth on the escape route.
