Only Your Heart Matters, No Fear of Mountains or Rivers

Awan was raised by the Ling family as a child and grew up with her cousin, Prince Ling Yanchen. Before reaching adulthood, she discovers she is the lost daughter of General Huo, a founding hero of the empire. The Emperor wishes to make her his concubine, but she remains devoted to her cousin until she discovers he has arranged a marriage with Prime Minister Liu Ruoyan for power and insults her background. Heartbroken, Awan agrees to enter the palace, but is humiliated by the Ling family when the wedding gifts are presented. Fortunately, the Emperor saves the day and reveals her true identity. Once in the palace, the Emperor dotes on Awan due to their childhood bond, prompting Empress Dowager and Liu Ruoyan to conspire against her. They fabricate evidence of a secret meeting at the Observatory, slander the heir as a bastard, and even attempt to poison her with a Western abortifacient.
