The Mountains and Rivers Honor the Promise

Liao Chen lives in seclusion at Lingyin Mountain, where he is often looked down upon by local martial artists. Upon hearing that Princess Zhaoyang, Wuxiu, will be sent for marriage, he triggers memories from five hundred years ago—witnessing Princess Anyang (Wuxiu's past life) die tragically due to the alliance, and vowing to protect her and alter their fate. Wuxiu's appearance shocks him; she secretly infiltrates the library to discover the truth behind the marriage in a storybook, causing her to waver in her resolve. As the two grow closer, Liao Chen struggles between his cultivation and saving her. The villain Li Zhongxian sends assassins to investigate but is blocked, while the Emperor forcefully pushes for the marriage and seals Lingyin Mountain. Dressed in her wedding gown, Wuxiu leaves the mountain. Liao Chen finally realizes that protecting someone is more important than cultivation. He rushes into the main hall during the grand ceremony, defeats the powerful enemies, and stands in front of her to protect her.
