True and False Emperor

In the ninth year of Tianwu, chaos swept the land as eight princes rebelled. Xia Tianying, alongside Empress Wu Zhaoyi, crushed the rebellion and established a new dynasty. On the day of Xia Tianying's wedding to Gu Li, Empress Wu Zhaoyi believed rumors that Gu Li was a witch, deceived the emperor, and spread false accusations of disrupting the state. Wu Zhaoyi poisoned Xia Tianying and Gu Li's wine; when both fell ill and were unable to move, she ordered Gu Li's execution. Xia Tianying watched in horror as Gu Li died right before his eyes.
