Reboot the Male Lead

Reboot the Male Lead is an episodic series where the male protagonist travels into various melodramatic genres to subvert clichés and reverse the plot across six episodes. He enters high-contrast stories including revenge dramas, detective thrillers, horror films, wuxia adventures, basketball sports dramas, and classic romance series. While these shows follow traditional narrative structures, the protagonist acts as an independent consciousness to disrupt character arcs and steer the story in unexpected directions. Traditional plots rely on predictable events and strong resonance to attract viewers, but this comedy uses twists and roasts to break expectations and deliver surprising humor. In the revenge drama, the male lead dismantles the foolish rise of the young master with absurd exaggeration. The detective story overturns the rule of the high-status investigator, reversing the image of the meticulous genius; the male lead even appears as a victim (a corpse) to drive the plot and enhance reversals. The horror segment replicates classic tropes but flips the fear into comedy. The wuxia arc breaks the high-status identity and the power fantasy trope, showing a martial arts master who avoids countless ridiculous assassinations only to be defeated by the time-traveler using the weakest method: winning the heart. The basketball and classic romance episodes also follow traditional patterns but are disrupted by unexpected events, leading to unique endings.
