The Snake Mother's Deep Gratitude
During a famine, the Feng family father and son hunted and ate a spirit snake. Feng Xiaoya tried to stop them but failed. Late at night, a refugee woman named A Qing arrived; seeing her beauty, the Feng family kept her. After Feng Youliang and A Qing shared a room, they suffered nightmares and strange occurrences, including the death of their chickens and A Qing's eerie habit of eating the dead birds. An old woman warned that A Qing was pregnant with a snake cub, and she would give birth under the blood moon. On that night, A Qing gave birth. The Feng family rushed into the east room, only to see red light filling the sky, the sound of hissing snakes, and shadows of intertwined young snakes on the walls.
